HISTORY of the Centre

In 2014 the Lindsay Ministerial Association observed that there were many needs in the South end neighbourhood of Lindsay, and felt that the current churches were not equipped to meet these needs. Out of this discussion grew the idea of a new church plant, supported by the ministerial, that would have the specific mission of ministering to the South end.

Mike and Amanda Kleinhuis were invited to meet with members of the Ministerial in July 2014 to explore what it might look like for them to be involved in planting a church. In early 2015 they made the commitment to move to Lindsay, and began to build a core team and raise support to start a new church.

The Centre Community Church launched in January 2016.

Mission

Sharing the life and love of Jesus with the South End neighbourhood of Lindsay.

Vision

To see the South End Neighbourhood transformed by the Gospel.

Core Values

Fellowship

  • We desire the church to be a community known for its fellowship and hospitality in which all people are welcomed and valued, no matter their background
  • We encourage our members to practice fellowship and hospitality throughout the week with neighbours, colleagues, friends and family

Serving

  • Each person that calls the church home will be actively involved in serving others in some capacity throughout the week
  • Each member will be encouraged to serve within the church each week

Disciples making disciples

  • A disciple is one who follows another in order to learn and grow. Our members will, like Paul in 1 Cor. 11:1, encourage others to follow them as they follow Christ.
  • Our members will actively seek out others with whom they can mentor and teach affirming our call as a Royal Priesthood (1 Peter 2)

Proclaiming and living the gospel message

  • Each member will be open to opportunities to share their faith and lead others towards Christ, even as they continue to grow and mature in their faith
  • Each member will actively demonstrate their faith in tangible ways within the community through acts of service, compassion, and caring, not just in words

Worship in all areas of life

  • While we will meet regularly for corporate worship, each member will be encouraged to offer to God all areas of their life, as a living sacrifice (Romans 12)
